MEMORY/CALL CHANNELS
Alphanumeric display
Each memory channel and the call channel can be pro-
grammed with an alphanumeric name such as a repeater
name, club name, etc., for easy recognition. Names can be a
maximum of 8 characters—see the table at right for available
characters.
Scan edge channels and scratch pad memories CANNOT
be programmed with alphanumeric names.
q Select the desired memory/call channel except scan edge
channels.
w Push the desired band’s [
(MAIN)EDIT] for 2 sec. to enter the
edit screen.
Push [CHG/L] if [(MAIN)EDIT] is not displayed.
e Push [Y] or [Z] to select the ‘Name’ item.
Left-hand tuning dial can also select the item.
r Push [EDIT] to enter programming mode.
The first character of the name flashes.
t Rotate the right-hand tuning dial to select the desired char-
acter.
See the table below for a list of available characters.
y Push [] to advance to the next character.
Push [] to select the previous character.
u Repeat t and y until the desired name is input.
i Push [ï] to program the name and exit programming
mode.
o If you want to set other channels, push [CH] then rotate the
right-hand tuning dial. Repeat r through i to set the de-
sired name.
!0 Push [ï] again to exit the edit screen.
To display the programmed memory name, turn the mem-
ory name indication ON in set mode. (p. 67)
